Subtitles
A category of file formats covered by Format Atlas.
About this category
SRTSRT, or SubRip, records cue numbers, time ranges, and subtitle text. It is separate from the video; text encoding and styling behavior can vary across players.TTMLTTML represents timed text in XML for subtitles and captions. Profiles define available presentation features, so a .ttml extension alone does not prove the target system supports the file.WebVTTWebVTT stores timed cues for subtitles and captions. It is served separately from the video and can be used with an HTML track element; it is not a video container.
